DJ BIRANE
Birane Thiam hails from ivory coast, so he has a francophone vibe which influences a multicultural flair in his musical style on the turntables. His musical inspiration is curated from influences from these countries Ivory Coast, Togo, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal ,Congo, Cameroon, Morocco, and France with a sprinkle of USA.
He started his DJ career because as a musician, he did not like how African music was represented in the club in the late 90s, so he trained as a dj and took up the challenge.
His goal is to promote African music and culture to the world while empowering the authentic sound of afrobeats. He was influenced to purse his DJ career by Birane Diawara in Ivory Coast and Dj Jazzy Jeff out of Philadelphia. Dj Birane is inspired from how his fans groove and keep coming back for his unique sound which spans the globe.
He started with residencies a kilimanjaro nightclub where he started as a manager and then evolved to managing the sound.
He has spun at clubs like the Vault, The Shrine, Lexington lounge, The Cecil, windfall, Bogart, Marquee, Quo, Sob’s, Hudson Terrace, DL, Lava Gina and Taj to name a few when he is on the bill, the diverse diaspora sound is present and intoxicating to events guests.
Dj Birane has also done african festivals and institutions, like African Restaurant Week, Ankara Bazaar, Afropolitan Cities, and Schomburg Center For Research in Black Culture, Brooklyn Museum, and the opening for the new African Center in Harlem to name a few.
Dj Birane has also lent his sound skills to the Grammy’s after party in la, and BET awards after party. He is Fally Ipupa official international DJ and has played for him at the global festival in dc and He toured with him in over 20 cities in the USA.
He has promoted and managed the music and logistics for concerts for Koffi Olomide at Lincoln center, and BB King,Lucky Dube at the Apollo Theater, Meiway, Eddy Kenzo, Toofan, Yemi Alade to list a few. As a trailblazer invested in empowering the African Diaspora.
He also organized, the first african fashion show Afrique Elegance with Alpha Di and 5 African designers in africa and Mafrika Festival with Burkinabé entertainment which we have gone on for the past 12 years. Dj Birane played on the famous Summer Stage in 2014 alongside Teddy Afro, with this robust schedule; he still found some time to create Eburnee Entertainment a company whose mission is promoting african music and culture to the world.
